Electrical Power Engineer

GlobeKonect Petrochemical & Energy is a prominent and diversified energy company that deals in oil, gas, chemical and renewable energy. We are in search of a skilled, experienced and professional Electrical Power Engineer to join our dynamic and dedicated team in Lagos, Nigeria.

    Job Description  

As an Electrical Power Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining electrical power systems that satisfy the requirements of our clients. It will be part of your job to ensure the stability and efficiency of our power systems and infrastructure while adhering to strict safety and quality standards.

   Duties and Responsibilities

* Support and advice other team members with regard to technical matters.

* Execute cost-benefit evaluations and feasibility studies for planned initiatives.

* Create, develop, and test electrical power systems for a variety of applications.

* Conduct system evaluations to make necessary adjustments and enhancements.

* Using CAD software, create schematics, diagrams, and layouts for electrical systems.

* Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, codes, and standards within the power industry.

* Prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations for customers and other stakeholders.

* Use software instruments like ETAP, PSS/E, or SKM to carry out power system analysis and modelling.

* Design electrical systems and circuits, as well as contribute to project planning and development stages.

* Examine and accept the specifications, drawings, and calculations contained in the electrical design papers.

* Analyze and resolve complex electrical engineering issues relating to equipment failure and system inefficiencies.

* Monitor industry advancements to stay updated with new technologies and methodologies in electrical engineering.

* Ensure that the codes, standards, and regulations are followed when designing and installing electrical power systems.

* Work with project managers, other engineers, and clients to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.

   Minimum Job Requirements

* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

* At least 3-5 years of work experience as an Electrical Power Engineer; or experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

* Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for work experience on a year for year basis.

   Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

* Analytical abilities.

* Knowledge of electrical power systems.

* Organisational and problem solving skills.

* Great technical skills and physical stamina.

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

* Good knowledge of MS Excel and Microsoft office.

* Knowledge of technical presentations and reporting.

* Proven experience as an Electrical Power Engineer or similar role.

* Skill in organising resources, establishing priorities, and working efficiently.

* Ability to work effectively in an ethnically diverse and international environment.

* Ability to communicate fluently in English language and read technical drawings.

* Knowledge of power system analysis applications like ETAP, PSS/E, MATLAB or SKM.

* Strong understanding of electrical power systems, circuitry, and risk management issues.

* Knowledge of the NEC, IEEE, and IEC codes, standards, and laws that govern electrical power systems.

* Experience working on EMS based infrastructure and comfortable building and executing training scenarios.
