We are in search of a professional and experienced International Travel Consultant with great enthusiasm for travelling to join our team in Lagos, Nigeria.

 

  Job Description

As an International Travel Consultant for Europe, you will be responsible for counselling and advising international travellers on travel options, packages and decisions. In this role, you will be required to make bookings, reservations, prepare tickets and receive payments. You will be focusing on countries in the continent of Europe and Scandinavian region, e.g England, Switzerland, Ireland, Sweden, Norway; e.t.c.

 

  Duties and Responsibilities

* Reach the revenue and profit targets.

* Maintain relationships with key persons.

* Create and update electronic records of clients.

* Attend conferences to maintain familiarity with tourism trends.

* Collect deposits and balances. Also keep financial statements and documents.

* Handle unforeseen problems and complaints and determine eligibility for money returns.

* Use promotional techniques and prepare promotional materials to sell itinerary tour packages.

* Determine the clients’ needs, specifications and wishes and suggest suitable travel packages or services.

* Research various destinations and means of travel regarding prices, customs, weather conditions, reviews etc.

* Organise travels from beginning to end, through booking tickets and accommodation, securing rental transportation etc.

* Supply individual and business travellers with pertinent information and useful travel/holiday material (guides, maps, event programs etc).

 

  Minimum Job Requirements

* Cover letter.

* CV/Resume.

* BSc in Hospitality, Travel, Tourism, or relevant field.

* Holding a CTA, CTC, a relevant license or certification.

*  At least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Candidates with personal travel experience will have added advantage.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for work experience on a year for year basis.

 

  Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

* Proven working experience as a Travel Consultant.

* Exemplary sales skills and customer oriented approach.

* Ability to present, persuade and communicate effectively.

* Ability to work effectively in a ethnically diverse and international environment.

* Skills in research, organising resources, establishing priorities, and working efficiently.

* Ability to provide independent advice and guidance to travellers within area of expertise.

* Well versed in various areas of travel (domestic/international, business/holidays, group/individual etc).

* Excellent knowledge of traveling software (computer reservations systems, GDS systems and e-travel).

* Ability to communicate proficiently in English language,  and knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.

* Knowledge and understanding of the needs of international travellers and how to apply the principles and techniques of assessment.
